What is the PPL?
The Portland Pickleball League is the first team-based league in the Greater Portland area! Teams square off against one another during the regular season, then battle in the playoffs for the cash prize & crown of PPL Champion!
What is the league format?
Teams consist of 3 men and 1 women. Every match will have a minimum of 4 games. If teams are tied after 4 games, a Singles “Team-Breaker” will be played.
Game 1: Mixed (Woman + Male 1)
Game 2: Men’s Doubles (Male 2 + Male 3)
Game 3: Mixed (Woman + Male 2)
Game 4: Men’s Doubles (Male 1 + Male 3)
When does it start?
The PPL is hosting the Fall Season Draft Combine* on August 19th.
*Open play for all league members, primarily for captains to scout prior to the draft.

What is the Portland Pickleball League?

Do I need to have a Picklr Membership?
No. For matches played at the Picklr, you can utilize guest passes or pay the drop-in fee if you’re not a member. However, some team’s may elect to play outdoors (free) if agreed upon by both captains.
What is the timeline for the Fall PPL season?
- Sign-Ups: through July 25th
- Combine & Draft: August 19th
- Week 1 of Reg. Season: Aug 25-31st
- Week 8 (Reg. Season Finale): Oct 13-19th
- Playoffs: October 20-26th
- Championship: Nov 1st
What is the Draft Combine?
Players who sign up will be asked to participate in an Open Play session, primarily for team captains to scout the field prior to drafting. This ensures captains are familiar with the play styles of all participants prior to selecting their teams.
How can I join?
To join the Portland Pickleball League, click the button below to fill out the registration form. Depending on availability, you will be placed into the player pool. The number of teams will be determined by total applicants, as each team requires 3 men and 1 woman. Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of this exciting league!
How are teams formed?
The 8 women in each league will be deemed Team Captains. On the league draft night, they will select men from the player pool to fill out their rosters. The snake draft format aims to evenly distribute the talent across all teams.
Are there any age or skill level restrictions for players?
The Portland Pickleball League welcomes players of all ages, but participants must be at least 18 years old to join. We plan to organize leagues for every level, encouraging players of all skill levels and backgrounds to participate.
What is the Championship Event?
We are working to lock down an indoor facility to host the Final Four for the Elite League, and the Championship game for the Advanced league. Food, Drink, Fans & Spectators will hopefully make it a lively event as we crown the champs!
When does the season start?
Our Fall season kicks off on August 19th and runs through November 1st!
Are matches set for a specific day?
We will be operating under a flex-scheduling system, with a default match day of Sunday.
What is Flex-Scheduling? This means your team is required to complete your match by week’s end, accounting for possible schedule shifts amongst team members. Team captains may arrange for the match to be played at another time if needed.
Where are matches played?
Indoor: Picklr Westbrook, Wicked Pickle
Outdoor: Fort Williams, Payson Park, Beach St (Saco), Old Orchard Beach, etc.
- Location must be agreed upon by team captains prior to Match Day.
Will there be gender-specific leagues?
We are hoping to introduce Men’s and Women’s leagues in the future!
